DanceScore is a computer program that handles the complex task of applying the rules of DanceSport called the 'Skating System'. DanceScore allows for fast Scrutineering of DanceSport events and allows the Results, if necessary, posted to the internet.

Requirements

DanceScore (Version 2 onwards), is based on the Microsoft Access database system and as such it will work on any computer that is running any version Microsoft Access from 2002 on, (file format 2002/2003). This approach was taken to "Future Proof" the program as much as possible.

 

You are not required to have Microsoft Office installed on your computer. Microsoft supply, free of charge, a 'Cut Down' version of Access called Access Runtime (ART). Access Runtime 2007 V2 will run all features of DanceScore and it runs on XP (SP2 installed) or Vista.

 

 

Simple Set Up

DanceScore is simply an Access MDE file that can be run from any directory provided you have Microsoft Access, (or Access Runtime), installed on your computer. No installation is required simply copy DanceScore to the directory of your choice. Files are simply copied and there is no information written into the Windows Registry.

 

The empty DanceScore MDE file is quite small, about 3Meg (a large competition will expand the file out to about 5Meg). The file is relatively small because all the database and interfacing code is supplied by Access and the Operating System.

Fast and Reliable

The Scrutineering Algorithm for DanceScore has been in constant use since 1983 and has proved time and time again to be extremely robust and fast.

 

 

Automatic Web Site Creation

DanceScore has the option of creating a full web structure of a competition which includes index page and all relevant links. No coding at all needs to be done by the Scrutineer. Click Here to go to a demonstration of web site creation.

 

 

Future DanceScore Modules

Current projects in the works include a master module would contain a Master database of couples so that couple names could be exported to the Scrutineering  program. The Master module would also be used for sorting running orders and printing Adjudicator cards.
